Through this program, our stylists are trained in the EGGIE Method of hair care, cutting, and styling.
“After just one sit-down conversation with Rachel and her salon manager (also my close childhood friend), Mimi, I was confident that EGGIE Salon Studio had everything I was craving as a stylist and educator in the hair industry. Rachel and I have known each other for several years and, aside from our passion for the hair industry, we have a great deal in common. Both native Baton Rougeans, we ran in similar circles throughout high school and college, and we even attended the same cosmetology school–Aveda–in different cities. Shortly after cosmetology school, I spent six years in Shreveport working as a makeup artist on a TV set and, later, as a stylist soaking up as many skills and as much knowledge as I could at a Summit Salon. Because of my growth and success as a stylist at the Summit Salon, I was awarded the opportunity to give back to the company by training and mentoring seven associates who quickly climbed the ranks and became Level 1 Stylists. While my time spent at the Summit Salon was rewarding, I was ready to head home and “shake up the industry” in Baton Rouge- an idea that Rachel and I often dreamed of tackling together. However, while I have always been in awe of the avant-garde vision she has for the future of her salon, it was challenging for me to wrap my head around the idea of working for Rachel as opposed to with her as a top stylist in a parallel universe. That said, once the ground was broken and Rachel’s dreams for EGGIE Salon Studio took shape, I realized what a “groundbreaking” career opportunity this salon could offer me. I trusted that Rachel recognized and valued my talents not only as a stylist, but also as an educator. Whether teaching classes to our team of stylists or working right alongside them, I feel inspired and grateful to walk into the salon and work among creatives who share the same passions I do. The future of EGGIE Salon Studio is bright, and I feel honored to help write its story and reshape the hair industry in Baton Rouge.”
“After receiving my cosmetology license in September of 2016, I spent the following 10 months assisting at a local salon before taking my first bold jump in my career by renting my own booth. During this time, I often wondered where my career would take me and how I could grow as a stylist to meet my own professional goals as well as the needs of my clients. I began praying for some sort of sign, and soon discovered a post on Rachel’s Instagram page stating that she was looking to hire a salon assistant. I messaged her immediately, emailed her my resume, and the rest is history…
During my first casual meeting with Rachel in her salon suite, I was drawn to her vibrant personality and passion for her work. She was–very efficiently– juggling four clients at once in her small salon space, but she still took the time to chat with me and make me feel welcome. A few weeks later, I had an official interview with Rachel and began working with her as her salon assistant on April 1st, 2019.
Three years have passed since I joined Rachel in this adventure, and I’m proud yet humbled to acknowledge that I have surpassed all goals and expectations I had for myself as a stylist in 2016. I have traveled to new places for professional development opportunities, met clients from all different places and have coworkers that have become some of my closest friends. I value the challenges of long, hard days, tough conversations, and difficult decisions like never before, as they have helped shape me into not only the stylist I am today, but also as the friend, coworker, wife, and mom I have always wanted to be. EGGIE Salon Studio is more than a hair salon – it is an innovative, artistic, collaborative game-changer for the Baton Rouge community, and I am honored to be a part of it.”
“My career in the hair industry began in a small boutique salon in 2010. Ten years later, and I found myself tired and a bit disillusioned with the direction my career was headed. In addition to my work as a stylist, I was juggling a few other jobs to supplement my income and accommodate my love for the finer things in life. I was ready for a change, but I was uncertain of what that change could and should look like. Despite my passion for hair, I admittedly considered leaving the industry altogether and returning to school to obtain an additional degree– at the time, I just didn’t see an end to the stress, exhaustion, and budgeting woes in sight. On multiple occasions, a close friend encouraged me to reach out to Rachel because she was confident Rachel was building a “game changing” salon business for the Baton Rouge community and insisted I would want to be a part of it after learning more. However, as someone who believes the grass is NOT always greener on the other side, I was certain my issues in my current position would not resolve themselves simply by changing locations. That said, after a particularly arduous week and while considering other career opportunities outside of the hair industry, I decided to contact Rachel.
On February 17th, 2020, after multiple meetings with Rachel, countless discussions with my husband, and a few consultations with friends who own successful businesses, I took a leap of faith and joined EGGIE Salon Studio. With renewed energy and excitement, I started my career at the salon as a Level 1 stylist. Unfortunately, three short weeks later, the COVID-19 pandemic shut the world down. While the salon’s doors were shut for two months, a lot of great things were happening behind the scenes for our team as we got to know one another, supported one another, and challenged one another to make the best of a difficult situation. Our time “off” gave us the opportunity to lay a solid foundation for our team and secure a vision for what we stand and strive for every day. In January of 2022, I became a Level 3 stylist. For the first time in over fifteen years, I am working one job earning six figures, and I have a renewed passion and energy for my work. People have always told me ‘the sky is the limit,’ but I never truly believed it until I walked through the doors of EGGIE Salon Studio.”
“After graduating from cosmetology school in 2018, I began searching for a mentor to advise me not only on ‘best practices’ for cut/color/style techniques, but also on how to effectively manage a business. I rented a booth at a local salon, but I still had not yet found that motivational, inspirational mentor I knew I needed in order to succeed in the industry. A few friends suggested I reach out to Rachel, who I already followed on Instagram via the salon’s page that I often looked to for creative inspiration. Aside from her obvious success as a business leader and stylist in the community, I was most impressed by her unselfish dedication to helping her associates grow and succeed. After meeting with Rachel at a local coffee shop to discuss our career goals, I knew without a doubt that she was the mentor I was looking for to scaffold, guide, and inspire me as a stylist.
While it may have seemed as if joining EGGIE Salon Studio as an associate meant taking a temporary step back in my career, I trusted that the knowledge and skills I gained from working closely with Rachel would prove invaluable to me as I worked to both reinvent and reinvigorate my career. Two years have passed since I first walked through the doors of EGGIE Salon Studio with a cautiously optimistic attitude. Today, I am a Level 3 stylist with a confidently optimistic attitude- the result of many professional development opportunities, goal setting meetings, and guidance from not only Rachel, but from her entire team of talented stylists as well. I feel blessed to have found not just one, but several mentors who support and inspire me as I work to ensure my clients leave the salon feeling just as beautiful and confident on the outside as they are on the inside.”
“I began working at EGGIE Salon Studio when it was still known as “House of Eggie.” As a new student in cosmetology school, I knew it would be beneficial to find a job in the industry and immerse myself in the day-to-day operations of a busy salon. Rachel hired me to work the front desk, and all of the anxiety and worries I had about pursuing a career in the service industry were washed away as I watched Rachel and her original team tackle any challenge that presented itself. For most of my life, I had been told that styling hair is a hobby, not a career. Rachel was the first person to not only tell me, but also to show me the opposite. Watching Rachel in action validated her words, so I put all of my trust in her and all of my energy into proving everyone else wrong.
While the COVID-19 pandemic did begin shortly after I began working at the salon, it did not stop our team from thriving. In quarantine, Rachel consistently provided us with resources to continue growing as stylists despite the circumstances; we became experts in product knowledge, completed online cutting and styling classes, and gave back to the community as much as we could. Once quarantine was lifted, I returned to school and continued working the front desk part time. However, I was eager to begin assisting Rachel full time. Rachel noticed the growth I had shown as a result of the professional development opportunities she provided for the team during quarantine and graciously allowed me to start assisting early. I enjoyed every minute learning from and assisting Rachel with her clients. I began executing her techniques and blending them with my own style, and I loved seeing the results of my hard work.
On the day I booked my first client at the salon, Erin, Aimee, and Dani walked me through the process step-by-step to ensure I felt comfortable and confident. It was a nervous yet exciting day for me, and while I knew I was prepared, I needed their enthusiastic support and reassurance. I have come a long way since that first client, and have since been promoted to a Level 2 stylist. I chose to work at EGGIE Salon Studio because of the culture, continuous education, team work, growth, and, most importantly, because it has provided me with an amazing career that I once believed I could never have.“
“After completing cosmetology school, I spent two years working at a salon in my hometown, Houma, LA before moving to Baton Rouge and joining the team at EGGIE Salon Studio. While it was a bittersweet decision to move away from my family and friends, I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to be a part of a salon that offered so many opportunities for both personal and professional growth.
When I first visited EGGIE Salon Studio, the contagious energy immediately captivated me; I was amazed at how the team worked together to empower and share their strengths with one another. I dreamt of joining a salon that operated more as a family than a ‘staff’ and I truly believe that I have found just that; I can’t wait to continue learning, growing, and putting beautiful and confident smiles on my clients’ faces at EGGIE Salon Studio.”
“For as long as I can remember, I knew I wanted to become a hairstylist. In high school, I made the decision to graduate a year early and jump start my career in the hair industry. When my close friends Maddie and Grace began working at EGGIE, I heard nothing but great things about the learning opportunities they were exposed to, the warm camaraderie amongst the EGGIE team members, and the clients. Soon after, I began following EGGIE Salon Studio on social media and fell in love with the dream that Rachel was making a reality for not only herself, but for her clients, her team, and stylists from around the country who have followed her journey.
The first time I visited EGGIE Salon Studio was on my wedding day. I booked an updo with Erin and I immediately fell in love with the salon. I was most notably taken aback by the phenomenal guest experience and the way each team member not only paid attention to detail, but also uplifted one another as they did what they loved. I knew it was the place I wanted to work.
I’ve grown exponentially in my craft, creativity, and confidence since joining this innovative and passionate team, and I’m excited to see what the future holds for me as a stylist at EGGIE Salon Studio.”
“In 2019, I began following Rachel’s inspirational social media posts as she worked her way up in the Baton Rouge hair industry. Soon after, I decided to attend cosmetology school with the intent to help others not only look their best, but feel their best in their own skin. Rachel has always been vocal about her passion for mentoring associates who are determined to break barriers and create lasting careers in the industry. I followed her as she set, met, and–more often than not–exceeded several goals of her own, and I was so inspired that I decided to set a goal for myself: to one day work for and train under Rachel Eggie. After graduating from cosmetology school, I was blessed with the opportunity to work as an associate at EGGIE Salon Studio, and I quickly learned that I would gain so much more than an amazing start to what I know will be a fulfilling career in the hair industry. As I work towards becoming a Level 1 stylist at the salon, much of my time is spent training under Rachel, as well as Adrienne, a Level 5 stylist at the salon who brings invaluable experience to our team, and so many other talented stylists. That said, I am perhaps most thankful to walk into a workplace where I am surrounded by a team of strong, empowering women who are as passionate about their work and their clients as I am. After meeting the first goal I set for myself as a professional stylist, I developed a long-term personal goal to challenge and inspire me throughout my career: to never stop learning, growing, and giving back to the industry that has already given me so much. I am confident that the EGGIE Salon Studio team will help me not only meet but exceed this goal.“
“I have always dreamed of becoming a hairstylist, but I never imagined a job could be as enjoyable and rewarding as my job at EGGIE is. One of my biggest role models and encouragers, my aunt, was also a hairstylist. I always found her career so intriguing because she was able to develop meaningful relationships with her clients while doing what she truly loved. As a child, I would cut my Barbies’ hair and remember being so proud of the beautiful transformations I gave them.
I began cosmetology school in January of 2020. Thankfully, after COVID cases dropped, I was able to attend in-person classes and really take advantage of the opportunity to have a hands-on learning experience. While completing my degree, I began searching for salons that would enrich my educational experience and prepare me for my future career.
EGGIE Salon Studio was first on my list, and I consider myself lucky to have been offered a position with them. I officially joined the team in April of 2022, and I immediately began learning more efficient and effective ways to communicate with clients and execute what my clients want. The more time I spend in the salon, the more I appreciate the work we do as hairstylists. Being able to make a client feel beautiful and leave with confidence and the knowledge to maintain their style at home is an amazing feeling to carry.
I have developed so much as a professional since I began my career with EGGIE; most notably, my confidence in my work has grown exponentially as I have learned to execute many of the techniques, tips, and tricks other EGGIE stylists have shown me. I love coming to work each day ready to do new things and make each client feel special and seen in their own way. I am grateful for my team and for Rachel for seeing something in me and giving me this opportunity. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me at EGGIE!“
“I was born and raised in Baton Rouge, I graduated from UHigh, and I am currently a senior at LSU. I remember that the first time I stepped foot into the salon as a client, I was immediately immersed into everything EGGIE – from the salon’s values to its educational opportunities and talented time – I honestly had no idea that one day I would become a part of this team. The atmosphere was unlike anything I had ever experienced before–from the stylists’ intrinsic talent and product knowledge to the beautiful aesthetics and mission –EGGIE was unlike anything I had ever experienced, and I knew I wanted to contribute to the vision Rachel promotes. As a Guest Service Expert, I strive to ensure every client consistently has the same positive and uplifting experience as I did on that day I first stepped into the salon. I genuinely enjoy interacting with our clients and assisting them in any way I can. Similarly, watching our team of talented stylists empower our clients on a daily basis is something I look forward to every day when I walk through the doors of EGGIE Salon Studio. I feel blessed to work with the Baton Rouge community in this capacity, and I am excited to see what the future holds for me at EGGIE Salon Studio.”
EGGIE salon studio is operated under salon owner, Rachel Eggie. After years of learning and studying the latest hair styling techniques in Houston, Rachel envisioned bringing an alternative salon experience to the Baton Rouge market. With sights on uniting a talented team of stylists with a salon that offers clients a unique and personalized experience, EGGIE was born.
“Rachel Eggie, owner of EGGIE Salon Studio, has been a dear friend of mine since high school when we attended St. Joseph’s Academy together. I feel privileged to have been one of her very first “models” during beauty school who was able to experience her innovation and passion from the very start of her professional journey. Rachel’s energy, motivation, and creativity was intoxicating, so much so that Rachel and I frequently found ourselves discussing my future as her potential employee at the salon she had been dreaming up for years.
In May of 2020, shortly after the COVID-19 pandemic began, Rachel’s dream became her reality, and she officially opened EGGIE Salon Studio. At this time, I was employed as a middle school history teacher, but the school had already transitioned to a virtual platform for the remainder of the school year. With a little bit of time on my hands and a whole lot of trust and faith in Rachel, I became EGGIE’s first front desk employee.
Following a brief trial period, I became convinced that EGGIE Salon Studio was the fast-paced, goal oriented, and empathetic work environment I needed to be truly satisfied in my career. With inspiration and motivation from the EGGIE Salon Studio team, the many professional development opportunities I have had, and, of course, Rachel herself, I have grown from the salon’s first receptionist to the salon manager. I am in awe of the collaborative and empowering team we have built at EGGIE Salon Studio, and I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for us!”
