Rachel Eggie Gibbs Named Young Businessperson of the Year by Business Report
We are thrilled to share that Rachel Eggie Gibbs, our amazing founder and owner of EGGIE Salon Studio, has been honored as Young Businessperson of the Year by Business Report! This prestigious recognition celebrates Rachel’s dedication to entrepreneurship, innovation, and her significant impact on the Baton Rouge business community. A Bold Moment of Strength and Purpose
One of the most defining moments in Rachel’s journey came in August 2022 at the Baton Rouge Best Dressed Ball, where she made a powerful statement of solidarity with those battling cancer. In front of a captivated audience, she shaved her head on stage, holding a sign that read: “This is a tribute to the courage and perseverance of all who fight. There is no greater symbol of strength.”
For a salon owner to voluntarily lose her hair was an unexpected and deeply symbolic act, but for Rachel, it was about understanding and connecting with women navigating post-chemotherapy hair growth. Earlier that year, she had partnered with Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center to donate first post-chemo haircuts to cancer patients.
“I wanted to better understand and connect with women navigating the challenges of post-chemotherapy hair growth,” explains Rachel. “When women finish chemo, that’s the end of one chapter, but they are starting a new journey of trying to get back to feeling like themselves. I wanted to be able to help them throughout my own hair growth journey.”
A Vision for Growth and Success
Rachel’s journey from stylist to successful salon owner showcases her passion for the beauty industry and her determination to create an exceptional salon experience. Since launching EGGIE Salon Studio, she has expanded the brand across multiple locations, including Goodwood, Burbank near LSU, and Perkins near Trader Joe’s. Her leadership has not only propelled the salon’s growth but also cultivated a team-oriented culture where stylists thrive.
Her commitment to innovation continues with the recent launch of the Post-Chemo Hair Growth Program, which provides financial support for cancer patients to receive haircuts and personalized guidance throughout their regrowth journey. Instagram tutorials documenting her own hair growth process have allowed her to connect with cancer patients worldwide through virtual consultations.
Innovation and Excellence in Salon Business
Under Rachel’s leadership, EGGIE Salon Studio continues to evolve with the latest industry trends. Offering luxury hair care services and top-tier brands like Kérastase, Kevin Murphy, and Eufora, Rachel ensures that clients receive premium treatment. The salon’s recent expansion and the addition of Inject Studio with Kristi Robert, PA-C, further reflect her innovative approach to beauty and wellness.
Rachel’s influence extends beyond the salon. In 2024, she launched a national TV show, The Eggie Effect, on Home Inspo Television, sharing her expertise in beauty transformations. More episodes are set to film in Milan in March, further elevating her impact on the industry.
